(1) Research Engineer
Salary: CAD $85,000 – $120,000 annually
Responsibilities
Plan, design, develop and build innovative Organic Photovoltaic equipment, materials and technologies using a research-driven development process.
Conduct research into all-polymer, non-fullerene and semi-transparent Organic Photovoltaic solar cells.
Develop and optimize polymer donor and acceptor materials, waterborne inks and photoactive-layer formulations.
Plan and conduct laboratory experiments involving mini-emulsion, nanoparticle production, sequential deposition and slot-die coating.
Design experiments to improve power conversion efficiency, flexibility, mechanical durability, chemical stability and light stability.
Develop and test new materials, electrodes, coatings, substrates and production techniques.
Analyze experimental data and evaluate the performance of prototype solar cells.
Conduct bending, thermal, mechanical, optical and environmental durability testing.
Assist with the transition of laboratory processes to pilot-scale and commercial-scale manufacturing.
Design or modify research equipment, experimental fixtures and testing systems.
Prepare research protocols, technical reports, test results, design specifications and development documentation.
Collaborate with product development, quality assurance, production and supply chain personnel.
Support patent research and the preparation of technical information for intellectual property applications.
Ensure research activities comply with applicable safety, environmental and quality requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of research, engineering, laboratory development or renewable energy technology experience.
Experience with photovoltaic technology, organic electronics, polymers, coatings, thin films or semiconductor materials.
Knowledge of experimental design, material characterization and prototype development.
Experience with slot-die coating, roll-to-roll processing, nanoparticle formulation or solution-based manufacturing is considered an asset.
Familiarity with equipment and analytical methods such as scanning electron microscopy, spectroscopy, electrical testing or mechanical testing.
Ability to analyze technical data and prepare detailed research documentation.
Knowledge of laboratory safety, chemical handling and environmental requirements.
Strong analytical, research, problem-solving and project-management skills.
Eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia is considered an asset where applicable to the assigned duties.

(2) Product Development Coordinator
Salary: CAD $60,000 – $85,000 annually
Responsibilities
Coordinate the development of Organic Photovoltaic products from initial concept through prototyping, testing and production.
Research raw materials, polymers, chemicals, substrates, electrodes, coatings and other components required for product development.
Request and evaluate quotations from raw material suppliers, manufacturers and technical service providers.
Collect safety data sheets, technical specifications, certificates of analysis and supporting documentation for new materials.
Maintain organized records of approved materials, formulations, suppliers and product-development activities.
Develop project schedules, milestones and budgets for research and product-development initiatives.
Track each development project to ensure that deliverables remain within the approved scope, timeline and budget.
Coordinate prototype preparation, laboratory testing, validation and design-improvement activities.
Work with Research Engineers to evaluate material performance, manufacturing compatibility and technical feasibility.
Support the transition from laboratory-scale formulation to pilot and commercial production.
Identify material, cost, performance and supply risks that could affect product-development timelines.
Coordinate communication between research, quality assurance, production, supply chain and management teams.
Prepare product requirements, technical summaries, project reports and development documentation.
Assist with regulatory, quality, environmental and intellectual property documentation.
Qualifications

(3) Quality Assurance Specialist
Salary: CAD $70,000 – $100,000 annually
Responsibilities
Monitor and inspect raw materials, work-in-progress products and completed Organic Photovoltaic solar cells.
Develop and maintain quality-control procedures, inspection plans and product-acceptance criteria.
Conduct visual, dimensional, mechanical, electrical, optical and performance inspections.
Verify that products meet established specifications for flexibility, thickness, stability, durability and power conversion performance.
Review production processes involving waterborne inks, nanoparticle formulations, slot-die coating and multilayer deposition.
Identify product defects, process deviations and recurring quality issues.
Investigate non-conformities and determine their root causes in collaboration with research and production personnel.
Recommend corrective and preventive measures to improve product quality and manufacturing consistency.
Monitor supplier quality and verify incoming material specifications and documentation.
Maintain inspection reports, quality records, test results, corrective-action records and product traceability documentation.

Responsibilities
Manage the organization’s supply chain from the purchasing of raw materials through production and product distribution.
Develop sourcing and procurement strategies for polymers, chemicals, substrates, electrodes, coatings, packaging and manufacturing supplies.
Identify, evaluate and qualify domestic and international suppliers.
Negotiate pricing, purchasing terms, lead times, minimum order quantities and supply agreements.
Ensure that purchased materials meet approved technical, quality, safety and environmental requirements.
Coordinate material requirements with research, product development, quality assurance and production teams.
